About the Writing Competition
A digital, written submission between 3,000-5,000 words being written in the theme ‘Writing of Place’, exploring a connection, reflection or response to the Australian environment, landscape or seascape. Each Essay must be set in the Australian landscape.

The answer to the still present threat of a silent spring is for us to sing against the storm.’RichardMabey, former judgeThe Prize will be awarded to three unpublished pieces of prose or poetry which best combineexceptional literary merit with an exploration of the writer’s relationship with the natural world.
The prize is open to anyone over the age of sixteenfrom anywhere in the world, as long as the work is original and previously unpublished.
1st prize €1000 plus a week atThe Moth Retreat in Ireland
2nd prize €500
3rd prize €250
